Honey has been delighting humans for more then 40 centuries. In ancient Egypt, taxes were paid with it, while in early Greece and Rome
honey symbolized fertility, love, and beauty. In the Bible, this
sublime nectar is dubbed "the heavenly food" and for the ancients, honey
was a source of health, a sign of purity and a symbol of strength and
virility. In our Farm we have also these wonderful gift of the nature:
the Bees.Bees produce honey as food stores for the hive during the long months of
winter when flowers aren't blooming and therefore little or no nectar
is available to them. European honey bees, genus "Apis Mellifera",
produce such an abundance of honey, far more than the hive can eat, that
humans can harvest the excess. The wood surrounding our Spoleto
is full of "Corbezzoli" (Arbutus unedo) that is one of the more typical
plants of the Mediterranean regions and it represent undoubtedly the
best food for bees. Only from these plants bees obtain the best and more
expensive honey of Italy:Corbezzoli's honey. You will able to see these
umbelievable animals working in the hive learn everything about breeding and harvesting honey and last taste our lovely honey.
